Showcased here are the most recently completed projects. At the bottom of this page is a link to archived project descriptions. For more information on any particular project, please contact the project advisor.

Permanent Magnet Axial Flux Battery Charging System

Students: Stephen Spalding, Alicia Hemenger, Paul Audije

Advisor: Dr. John Irwin

Project Overview:

Design a wind turbine system that has the capability to provide "Off the Grid" energy to power an air pump for circulation of a cranberry bog. Also, the system must have the capability to tie into the grid to provide electric utility companies and customers with a green energy supplement option. Current systems are too complex and expensive, this design offers customers a cheaper and simpler alternative.

Flow Visualization Tunnel

Students: Eric Gray, Mike Uhl, Jason Day

Advisor: Dr. Sam Coates

Project Overview:

Design a Flow Visualization Tunnel to be incorporated into the MET fluids lab plan, allowing students to view air flow phenomena around various test objects.

Stress Relieving Oven Design

Students: Kevin Dickman, Jens Fossen, Bryan Johston, Jason Ginder

Advisor: Dr. Barbara Lograsso

Project Overview:

The oven is designed to heat A36 steel to a temperature of 1500 degrees Fahrenheit to reduce the stresses in steel.
