Tech University Teaches Single Sign-on Using Imprivata OneSign
Makes
OneSign the SSO choice for the University’s Security Engineering
Program
LEXINGTON,
MA and Houghton, MI – Imprivata®, Inc., the enterprise
single sign-on (ESSO) appliance company announced that one of
the nation’s leading engineering universities, Michigan
Tech, has selected Imprivata OneSign™ as a vital component
of the Computer Network and Systems Administration (CNSA) program.
Incorporating Imprivata’s ESSO solution, OneSign, into the
classroom curriculum is helping Michigan Tech to close the gap
between engineering education and its applications in the working
world. Since its inception in 2003, the CNSA – which has
a core emphasis in network and security engineering – has
become one of the university’s fastest growing programs.
Michigan Tech’s unique approach to the engineering program
incorporates real world situations – programming, security,
design, and business applications – to ensure future graduates
suit the needs of enterprise recruiters who are seeking to save
valuable time and lower the costs associated with on the job training.
The CNSA program will graduate its first students this year –
armed with the experience of using Imprivata OneSign – many
already receiving job offers in their respective fields.
“Across industries, the majority of today’s companies
are hiring network engineers and system administrators in order
to run their networks/systems effectively and securely. Being
enrolled in the CNSA program has given me diverse career opportunities
in the computer/network fields,” said Adam Thomas, Michigan
Tech Senior. “I will graduate this spring, and have accepted
an offer from a firm as an integration engineer. The CNSA program
has provided me with the essential knowledge and skills to confidently
succeed at this position.”
As some of the industry’s top recruiters of engineering
graduates, Healthcare and Financial Services organizations experience
a high level of need for resources with network and access management
skills. Michigan Tech’s students are some of the most sought
after recruits in these fields. With their experience using OneSign,
they have the valuable real-world understanding and capabilities
to solve prevalent password management issues.
“Michigan Tech has designed the CNSA program and engineering
lab sessions to ensure that students enter the market prepared
to deal with critical security concerns. Imprivata OneSign is
a key component in that preparation initiative.” said Guy
Hembroff, Assistant Professor and chair of the CNSA program at
Michigan Tech. “We chose to utilize Imprivata to teach ESSO
in our core security courses because the company offers the best
password management system out there – it’s proven
to be reliable, adaptable, and secure.”
According to Omar Hussain, CEO of Imprivata, “Michigan Tech's
decision to incorporate OneSign into its renowned engineering
curriculum is reflective of the pervasive nature of corporate
password management problems. By training emerging IT professionals
with OneSign – a solution that’s been proven effective
across industries – the university is demonstrating both
the mainstream nature of the problem and the widespread adoption
of the product. We're happy that OneSign continues to prove its
value as a simple and cost effective solution that’s adapting
to the evolving security needs of the market.”
