The Electrical Engineering Technology program, School of Technology, is hosting Dr. Besma Abidi, a scholar from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK) on Monday, March 31, 2008 and Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Dr. Abidi is a Research Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, UTK. She also serves as an expert consultant to a number of commercial companies. Her general areas of research are in biometrics, image enhancement and restoration, sensor positioning and geometry, sensor fusion, and video tracking. Dr. Abidi was the recipient of a number of awards, including the best paper award at CVPR 2004 and the most cited paper award for CVIU Journal, 2005-2007. She is a senior member of IEEE, member of the IEEE Computer Society, the Society of Women Engineers, SPIE, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Phi Kappa Phi, and The Order of the Engineer. Her biography appeared in the Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
