Objective:

Upon completion of this unit, you will be able to:

·         Explain and analyze the operation of Class A power amplifiers.

·         Explain and analyze the operation of Class B and Class AB power amplifiers.

·         Explain and analyze the operation of Class C power amplifiers.

·         Discuss the frequency response of an amplifier.

·         Express the gain of an amplifier in decibels (dB).

Reading:

·         Read Chapters 9 and 10.

 

 

Assignment:

·         Chapter 9 Homework:  Problems 1, 2, 9, 10, 15, 16, & 17.

·         Chapter 9 Extra Credit:  Multiple Choice & True/False questions for Chapter 9 from the companion website.

·         Chapter 10 Homework:  Problems 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 19, 23, 27, & 33.

·         Chapter 10 Extra Credit:  Multiple Choice & True/False questions for Chapter 10 from the companion website.

Show your work for all questions requiring calculations.

·         Lab 10:  Complete and submit per lab handout.

 

 

Evaluation:

·         Lab 10 due 2 or 4 November.

·         Chapter 8 Homework and Extra Credit due 3 November.

·         Chapter 9 Homework and Extra Credit due 8 November.

·         Chapter 10 Homework and Extra Credit due 15 November.

·         Unit 3 Test – 15 November on Chapters 7, 8, 9, & 10.

 

 

Note:

·         Labs will be performed in teams of two or individually until further notice.

·         Demonstrate proper operation of the above experiments to your instructor.

·         We will be using solderless protoboards (aka breadboards) to build our circuits.
