Biography:

Brian T. Davis is presently an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Technology program in the School of Technology at Michigan Tech. Dr. Davis received the B.S.E. degree magna cum laude in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1991, and the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1994 and 2001 respectively. He has served on the faculty of University of Toledo, Willamette University and currently Michigan Technological University. His present research is focussed upon modern DRAM interfaces and architectures, latency tolerance in high-speed microprocessors, memory controller policies, computer simulation methodologies, FPGA based reconfigurable computing and hardware description languages.

Brian Davis is a member of the IEEE, the ACM and Tau Beta Pi. His work in the comparison of industrial DRAM architectures [ISCA'99] is a significant academic comparative evaluation of design choices for DDR2 DRAM technologies. Dr. Davis has advised 11 students to graduate degrees, studying a range of areas from VLSI PLL design to Environmental Monitoring systems with a LAMP based web presence. Dr. Davis received an NSF CAREER award in 2002. The research addressed with this award focuses upon DRAM controller policy, address remapping and compiler directed virtual page placement techniques to reduce average DRAM access latency with no changes implied or required to the microprocessor, application or DRAM organization. Dr. Davis has been honored for his commitment to teaching, with the ECE Department professor of the year award in 2003 and the Michigan Tech Distinguished Teaching Award in 2005.
