Electrical Engineering Technology Degree Program:
Bachelor of Science

Electrical engineering technology is one of the largest and most rapidly developing technical fields. It concerns generating, transmitting, and utilizing electrical energy as well as developing and manufacturing electrical, electronic, and computer equipment and its applications in a wide variety of systems, such as communications and process control.
Students interested in the electrical, electronics, or computer fields, and who prefer applying established techniques to solve current technical problems, should consider this program.
We offer both Bachelor and Associate degree programs of study in Electrical Engineering Technology. The Associate in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology prepares students to be Electrical Engineering Technicians, who are employed in product evaluation and testing, power switch gear installation and calibration, and microcomputer data acquisition and control systems. Activities may include research and development, production design, operation and maintenance, or applications and sales. Those completing the AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) can easily continue on to obtain a Bachelors degree in EET.
Students who pursue the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology are prepared to be Electrical Engineering Technologists through a broad based educational experience that emphasizes practical, hands-on laboratory work that is closely coordinated with theoretical classroom discussion. Students receive a solid foundation of coursework in electric circuits, digital electronics, solid-state electronics, communications, power and electrical machinery. These fundamental topics provide the groundwork for further studies in industrial networks and control, microcomputers and microcontrollers, antennas and wireless communication systems.
Michigan Tech's Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). It is one of only three such accredited programs in Michigan.
Electrical engineering technology graduates obtain employment with a variety of employers including AT&T, Chrysler, Consumers Power, Control Data Corporation, General Electric, and Zenith.
